Patrick Range McDonald, a journalist and activist who’s been around the block a few times, founded MacDomhnall’s in 2025.

What

MacDomhnall’s (pronounced “Mac-DOH-null’s”) is a magazine that publishes investigative journalism, literary nonfiction, and other good writing. It’s informed by McDonald’s constant battles with the rich and powerful for more than thirty years, and it’s part of a project called Volume Six. All writing at MacDomhnall’s is “Proudly AI-Free.”(tm)

MacDomhnall’s doesn’t have a fixed publishing schedule. We focus on quality over quantity.

Why

We love writing and creating and having fun. We love righteous causes and independent thought and searching for some kind of truth. We love old-school magazines and alternative weeklies and New Journalism and investigative journalism and certain kinds of fiction. We love the arts and sports and all kinds of people and things. So we created MacDomhnall’s.
